Update
If you've been keeping up with my journal features i'm sure you've noticed that it's been a few weeks since i've updated or featured anything. Everything is fine, i've just been really busy and havn't found the opporunity to type out an in depth update or find thumbnails for my feature. SO! Here we go.
The music festival known as Happiness & Harmony was another absolute success, all things considered. As in the tradition of years past I ran around all weekend making new friends who looked a lot like me : Covered in dirt with a total lack of sleep and abnormally swollen pupils. Goooood times. My set went awesome and i've gotten many compliments. I handed out an estimated 100+ stickers for free to spread the word about my music and although I havn't gotten many new friend requests on my MySpace page, the plays did show a spike after the festival and since then. With any music festival we did have a few problems with people acting irresponsably and making asses of themselves. Apparently the big sign that said "NO DOUCHE BAGS" wasn't as much of a deterant as we hoped and planned but regardless, it was still a great weekend.
This great weekend was prompty followed by a week of the flu. I suppose dancing around in the rain was probably the cause, but the rain just seemed so perfect. Some of my good friends were on stage jamming out and the sky opened up and the rain poured down. This quickly weeded out the true music fans from those who were just there for the party - some retreated to their tents or cars. However, many of us continued to get down and enjoy the night as the rain poured down, soaking all of us. I had to change clothes before my set so I didn't ruin my equipment because I was dripping everywhere. Had I known that the following week would be aweful and i'd be spending five out of the seven days in bed... well, I probably still would have done it.
I won my very first contest here on deviantart! I'm excited and very proud that my piece
won the "Love Your Mother Earth" contest in the Literature category over at I'm finally the owner of my own laptop. Yeah, i'm probably way beyond the times but this is my first laptop and i'm pretty psyched. I hope that my music as well as my art will benefit from the ability to create anywhere and everywhere, when the mood strikes me.
Features
My feature this time around will be one of the greatest rock bands in history. THE BEATLES. Lately The Beatles have been all over the media with the release of The Beatles Rock Band and the release of all their albums, newly remastered. I always get mixed feelings when I see great bands like The Beatles advertised all over networks like MTV. It's a beautiful thing to know that such inspiring music can be so timeless, that it can reach beyond generations and still have the feel of something new. However, I have to wonder if they're getting the appreciation they really deserve. My generation has been known for being unappreciative. Yeah, you know the song and can sing it but do you know a damn thing about the band that wrote and performed the song? Regardless, I love The Beatles and I grew up listening to and loving them and soaking up bits of information about them. Growing up, one of my fondest memories was always when i'd meet my best friend and next door neighbor in the ditch in front of his house at dusk, and he'd strum out the chords and sing Let It Be over and over underneath the dusk till dawn light. We were only kids, little kids. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with that boy.
